Echinacea (Echinacea Purpurea)
Inspire, awaken, bring light
Echinacea has found its way to the heart of herbal medicine, with it’s incredible lightness and powerful zinging action through the lymph of the body. Echinacea has traditionally been used for its cleansing and healing properties. Energetically, Echinacea clears out stagnation and old energy, brightens the spirit, and lifts people’s heads to the sky. It is especially helpful for people feeling sluggish or heavy energy, or breaking through into a new layer of growth where old and new are still co-existing.
Holy Basil/ Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum)
Energise, stabilise, provide sustenance
Holy Basil - the ‘Queen of Herbs’ - is revered as one of the holiest medicinal plants of Ayurvedic Medicine. Also named Tulsi as an embodiment of Hindu deity Lakshmi, Holy Basil is an adaptogen and whole body tonic, helping to support resilience and buoyancy during stress, and balance the body as a whole. Holy Basil supports deep calm, while rebuilding vitality, lifting energy, mood and stamina; particularly beneficial and supportive post-period. Holy Basil is also protective, especially to the nervous system, heart, lungs, and liver.
Calendula (Calendula officinalis)
Freshen, cleanse, add brightness
Like Echinacea, Calendula (also called Marigold) belongs to the Daisy family, and brings warmth into the post-period blend. Calendula is cleansing, while also being restorative. Calendula very gently and mildly encourages uterine contractions which is a perfect support for the phase of coming out of bleeding and into the pre-ovulatory phase, giving the womb a gentle cleanse. Medicinally, Calendula has traditionally been used for its endless healing actions that revolve around it being healing, cleansing and brightening.
Nettle (Urtica dioica)
Nourish, restore, feel wholesome
Nettle’s rich, green leaves are covered in a layer of silica-rich needles, containing organic acids and histamine that sting painfully when touched with bare skin. The sting is neutralised with drying and cooking, leaving behind an incredible remedy. The leaves are rich in chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals (especially iron and silica) and helps to nourish the body after bleeding — remineralising, re-nourishing, and rebuilding energy. Nettle’s iron-rich leaves are grounding, bringing people into their body and onto the earth, encouraging life and action after the stillness of menstruation. Nettle is also gently cleansing almost like a strengthening Spring clean.
Strawberry Gum (Eucalyptus olida)
Refresh, uplift, provide antioxidants
Strawberry gum is also called Forestberry, and is full of essential oils, bringing a playful, fruity flavour into the post-period/pre-ovulation phase. Like Cinnamon Myrtle, Strawberry Gum’s Eucalypts are known for their potent antibacterial and antifungal essential oils, and Strawberry Gum has a range of antioxidants. Antioxidants energetically bring life and energy wherever there is dullness or stagnation.
